In addition to acupuncture being a core self-care staple in my life, I also from time to time need the services of other healers. My acupuncture and hypnotherapy clients sometimes need additional support too. So here they are! My favourite local healers!
I've known Rachael for many years and recently finally discovered the magic that is Network Spinal Analysis. It is in my view an extremely effective yet gentle, literally light touch way of sorting your back, neck, posture and well, really your whole life! Based in Wilmslow she isn't exactly local to Barnsley, however I do feel it is worth the effort to drive over for my weekly sessions.
I also know Alana, a former chiropractor, based in Midhopestones and who is a lot closer to travel to from the Barnsley area than Rachael! So if you would like to experience the magic of Network Spinal Analysis book in with Alana. I personally find NSA very helpful at straightening me out and giving me back my flexibility in my spine.
Beth was the first healer I went to when I moved up to Barnsley and we've become good friends. She only treats women, and offers a range of services including massage, reflexology, Reiki, cupping and pregnancy related therapies. Beth is also in her final year of a 3 year acupuncture and Chinese Medicine degree at York. Which can only be a good thing for the area.
Clair was the main person responsible for drastically reducing the phobia that I was doing, and it just involved 30 minutes of Havening! It is powerful stuff and why I often mention it in clinic to my clients. Based in Cudworth, Clair is very local to me and is also trained in lots of other therapies in addition to the Havening Techniques(R). Clair's facebook site is here.
Tracy is based near Huddersfield and has successfully treated both of my children. If you have young babies or children whereby their mobility isn't good, poor sleep, uneven latching if breast feeding, delayed crawling etc, then in my personal opinion it is really worth getting them checked by an excellent paediatric osteopath, such as Tracy. It's worth the drive over to her.
Stella is a very good friend and first turned up on my doorstep as an acupuncture client...but with a difference! Very quickly I was bowled over by her natural ability to pass on thoughtful, accurate and ridiculously specific details from my loved ones that had passed over. Stella is also a trained bereavement counsellor. What a brilliant and obvious combination of talents to have!
If you're looking for an experienced male acupuncturist then Jonathan is your man! Just up the road from me, and thanks to his sporting interests, he's very adept at treating sports related injuries, as well as the usual areas that acupuncture can assist with such as fertility, migraines, insomnia etc.
In my personal opinion Lindsay is one of the best counsellors in the area! Not only could she see through my own b*llsh*t stories that were fooling me and keeping me trapped, Lindsay was able to quickly get to the heart of my issues, the underlying negative beliefs and help me to rapidly move me on.
Robin is based in Australia however I've included him here because his knowledge about healing the mind and body is second to none. His own story of how he has come through Stage 4 cancer with flying colours, a changed attitude in life and in lifestyle is extremely inspiring to us all, no matter our own personal battles. His facebook page

Sooooo if anyone of you are inspired to learn acupuncture at degree level please, please do check out ICOM. Don't just settle for the nearest college. Take your time to find one that is of a proper fit to you, not only for practical reasons, but also spiritual ones too.
It's only a few years later that I fully appreciate how blessed I was in going to ICOM. The Stems and Branches approach to treatments is very subtle, sophisticated and steeped in ancient history. It's also the reason why my lovely clients generally only have a few needles (sometimes one!) in them at any one time. Less is very much more when it comes to acupuncture.
